Fly Fishing In Scotland

Fly Fishing Scotland – The World Famous River TweedScotland - Home to an ever changing landscape, from the dramatic, wild and rugged coastline, to serene hills and valleys and also some impressive and humbling mountain peaks.

Traveling around Scotland is a fascinating experience and the visiting fly fisherman will find many opportunities to practice his chosen fly fishing discipline.

With a wide variety of waters, from large rivers in the South and East to the much smaller spate rivers of the Scottish Highlands and the West coast, many of these rivers are set in the naturally beautiful wilds.

The Scottish lochs range from the very large, majestic reservoirs of the lowlands to an assortment of smaller lochs in the Highlands and on the Scottish Isles.

With species ranging from Salmon and migratory Sea Trout, through to the wild Brown Trout of rivers and lochs, and the stocked Trout, (consisting mainly of rainbows) of Scottish still waters. Scotland is also home to some large Ferox Trout, located in the cool, dark Lochs. There is also some superb grayling fishing to be found here.

Rivers such as The Tay is arguably one of the best Salmon rivers in the UK and is visited by fly fisherman from all over the world.

The Tay still holds the record for the largest rod caught Salmon in the UK, which weighed in at 64lbs and was caught in 1922 by Miss Georgina Ballantine, this fish is still the current British record.
